Economics (focus on human resources and rights of workers)
How DO we focus on rights of workers and human resources within the context of these curriculum objectives? Here, especially, we may need to provide some very targeted links to lesson plans and activities that can support teachers in making this part of the curriculum happen.
- Explain how the availability of productive resources and labor affects the production of goods, specialization, trade, interdependence, and services in different world regions
- Explain why trade occurs when individuals, regions, and countries specialize, and how this causes both production and consumption to increase
- Describe the growth of cities due to the establishment of trade routes in Asia,Africa, and Europe and the products and inventions that traveled along these
Do these objectives include and/or address ideas like--
Fair trade
economic justice
true cost of the goods we use
distribution of wealth
Sue,
ReplyDeleteThese are some heavy topics for sure! I think teachers could introduce some of the ideas like fair trade, etc. if they find their students are up to it and they would like to add it in. I'm not sure it's something to add to the curriculum though with the already deep concepts in the 3 objectives we have.
